Made dry kala chana masala for chapati. The beans were evenly cooked and the spices coated them well. My husband packed the leftovers for lunch the next day.

I soaked these for Navratri-style kala chana and was very happy with the texture. Soft enough to eat comfortably but still with a nice bite. The simple cumin and ginger seasoning tasted lovely.

Made Kerala-style kadala curry with coconut and the kala chana cooked beautifully. It had a proper earthy taste and held its shape in the gravy. Breakfast with puttu was perfect.
